the other truth

My brother lamented that we should be made to pay increases in tax since there's a surplus in the budget (studying econs for As now, so can quote facts)

while eating a doughnut and too tired to think, i commented that some place have a 17.5% tax, hence our country's new 7% is pretty low.

and i suddenly realised and told him:

BUT THOSE ARE WELFARE STATES!!!

people there get retirement benefits, we have to save for our own retirement through CPF, which may not be enough.

Single parents can queue up for social benefits. Unwed girls here cant even get the baby bonus! So that's why the probability of babies appearing in rubbish dumps actually exist.

Oh, so my government are playing mind games now. you see, before elections they give people money to 'cope with the economy', which they claim have nothing to do with elections.
so means after elections can raise the GST to 7% ?

you see, for those of you who forgot your economic theory, there are a few types of tax:
poll tax - stupidest cos it taxes rich and poor same amount
progressive tax - usually on income to place more burden on the rich
regressive tax - to kill consumers like us GST GST GST GST GST cos we have no choice die die have to pay if you want to buy stuff.

i can almost predict this:

yea. wait til the bus company increases prices again due to 'increases in cost of goods and service'.

then you ministers with the high paycheck to notice the little difference it makes to your pockets can sit in your air-conditioned office (adding CFCs to the environment) while common people are jumping off mrt tracks cos we are all too fucking poor.

see?
now we all know why.
