Religion

i wanted to blog. but i have no inspiration at all. i've just read dan brown's the da vinci code and i suppose, that kept me thinking. (so i'm going to blog to attempt to sort my thoughts out) especially since i've always believed that religion originated from the creativity of Man.. to seek solace and comfort to explained what was unknown to them, especially to account for the gray areas not yet covered by science.

and i am aware of the bloodshed caused by this mere belief in some form of idol or worship. do were not remember the spanish inquisition? or the heresies? the witchcrafts? how many lives were sacrificed to protect this believes?

what do i think religion is? i think it's a protocol set by society - do this, skip that, or there will be consequences. it's some form of control to check on the behavior of people. once unchecked, it is assumed that society will be in chaos.

so to me, religion is but a tool.

when my brother saw me reading the book, he insisted that dan brown was no more than a liar. so i questioned the pious christian " what makes you think the bible's no more than lies?" he jeered at my blasphemy. (and for that instant second i was almost sure he had condemned me to hell, or whatever abyss that would devour me) that is, if hell existed.

place me on a scale. i'm on the extreme end that screams "we're all made up of cells!".

so basically, when we die, we are reduced to our simplest form.

that's what i believe.

because to me, this evidence that God exists seemed man-made.
in a way i do believe that the primary forms of religion were stories made up by authoratative figures to gain control of the peoples' minds and get them to act to their best interests.. warped theories to distort our beliefs and keeps us blinded to their intentions.

but i dont agree with dan brown. i believe some of his reasons were unjustified. he made too many assumptions. some we cannot see, hence we cannot comment. but frankly, i like his approach in writing. it triggers a chain of thoughts.

but i'm just wondering. what if this whole universe is but a dollhouse to some other higher powers watching us? playing us? are we therefore chained to this destiny?

ps: someone searched "singapore"+"sex for hire" and got directed to this blog. i dont know whether to laugh or to cry. and i removed the potentially suggestive words anyway. dont bother searching.
